The Craft Group met on Weds 8th November and got again into the Festive spirit by creating some beautiful Christmas Rag Wreaths. Add to that the cute corn dollies alongside last month's ceramics ... they're all well set for Xmas decs.
The Craft Group meets on Wednesday evenings, once a month. The cost for the evening is £4 to cover hire of the
hall, materials, coffee etc. Please let Ann Baker know if you intend
to come.
The Craft Group held a successful evening on Wednesday 14th June when we were
introduced to the Japanese art of Sashiko. Here is a picture of our efforts.
Info from Ann on next meeting - and September onwards programme...
The next meeting of the WINGS Craft Group will be on Wednesday
9 August, 7.30-9.30 at the Ale House in Flapgate Lane.
Following discussion with members we agreed that we would meet
in August but would have a DIY session. This will also give us time to chat and
get to know one another better, see what members are working on, talk to others
about what you are doing, and be inspired by everyone's creativity and
ideas.
So
- bring a project you are working on and spend some time on it
- dig out the project that has been sitting at the back of a cupboard for ages and resurrect it
- start something new
and for anyone who is at a loss I will bring the felt left
over from the felt flowers, and the mod podge left over from the decoupage so
that you can have another go at either of these crafts.
If you want to make the felt flowers please bring a needle and
scissors, and for the decoupage a 1”paint brush, fine artists brush, glass jar
or bottle, newspaper and paper napkins.
I have sorted out the sessions for the autumn as
follows:
Wednesday 13 September: Jenni will introduce us to porcelain
and we will make some decorations which could be hung on the Christmas Tree or
around the house.
Wednesday 11 October: Liz will introduce us to the art of
making corn dollies.
Wednesday 8 November: Back by popular demand we will make Rag
Wreaths.
Wednesday 13 December: Christmas crackers. We do not have the
Ale House this evening so we will need to decide where we meet.
It would be helpful if you could let me know by Sunday 6
August if you intend to come.
Look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
Ann
The Group meets on the second Wednesday of the month, 7.30 – 9.30pm, at the Ale House, Flapgate Lane.
We aim to try out a variety of crafts but as this is a group for its members we are keen to hear what members would like to do. A charge of £4 per meeting is made which covers tea/coffee and biscuits, and generally most materials required for the activity. However occasionally it may be necessary for members to purchase additional items.
No previous experience of crafting is required or assumed. The only prerequisite is enthusiasm and willingness to have a go!
Please email Ann Baker by 5pm on the Sunday before each meeting if you are intending to come so that we can ensure we have sufficient materials available. There is currently a waiting list to join the group, enquiries welcome.
Wednesday 12 July
Decoupage: Learn how to transform a bottle, glass or jar using decoupage.
Some fabulous decorated Easter eggs created by the Craft Group ... just eggcellent.
At our meeting on 8th March we tried our hand at smocking under the excellent guidance of Jill Walters.
Here are their
efforts – as you can see these can be made into a designer bag for an Easter
egg!
We were all
pleased with our efforts. Our thanks to Jill for leading the group and for
being so patient with us novices.
